Golfer Charley Hull says she is looking to get back to her “ruthless” self after finishing joint sixth in The Open at Royal Lytham and St Annes last weekend.<\/b><\/p>\n
Hull started the final day in contention,<\/a> five shots behind Yealimi Noh, but shot a +1 round of 72 on Sunday as Shiho Kuwaki went on to pick up the trophy<\/a> following a dramatic play-off with Esther Henseleit. <\/p>\n During an eventful week in which she defended herself following a prank she played on her caddie,<\/a> Hull showed some exceptional touches, including a wonderful opening tee shot<\/a> on Friday.<\/p>\n Speaking before her entry in this weekend’s PIF London Championship at the Centurion Club in Hertfordshire, Hull vowed to re-find her winning touch.<\/p>\n “When I was younger, I was way more ruthless as a person, and sometimes I want to get back to that,” she told BBC Look East.<\/p>\n “The more you play golf, the more good shots you hit and the more bad shots you hit. You have to just remember how good you are and be confident.”<\/p>\n Hull has been selected in next month’s Solheim Cup by captain Anna Nordqvist – her eighth participation in the elite event, at the age of just 30.<\/p>\n She is Europe’s top-ranked pick, and currently ranked sixth in the world, with an impressive personal record in the competition of 15 wins from 27 matches.<\/p>\n Successful in four of her past seven appearances in the Solheim Cup, Hull has reflected on becoming the most experienced player on the European team despite her young age – and the weight of expectation that comes with leadership.<\/p>\n “It’s wild really. I still feel quite young; hopefully I look young,” she said.<\/p>\n “I did feel the pressure last week because I felt like it was such a big week to me.<\/p>\n “I’ll still go to Lottie Woad for advice and it’s her rookie year. I’m normally pretty chilled, I’m just like ‘Let’s go out and play golf’.<\/p>\n “I’m not really into any fist-bumps. Maybe on the final few holes, but not on the first hole. I just like to be chilled out on the golf course.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
