I&#8217;m sad, disappointed and just hurt by all of it,&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/Dc_SP5OlI8C\/?img_index=1\" class=\"ssrcss-1fqyhkk-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\">wrote Davis-Woodhall on social media.<span class=\"visually-hidden ssrcss-i2z2ig-VisuallyHidden e16en2lz0\">, <!-- -->external<\/span><\/a> &#8220;I know this has to be part of my story. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;There has to be a reason for this. Just a hitch in my giddy-up.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Davis-Woodhall won long jump gold at the 2024 Olympics in Paris, before topping the podium at the Worlds in Tokyo a year later.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/sport\/athletics\/articles\/cwyzdvrrz3yo\" class=\"ssrcss-1fqyhkk-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\">She was involved in a &#8220;very scary&#8221; head-on collision in August<\/a> when she was on her way to training.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Afterwards, she said her injuries were not life-threatening but that both cars, which were going at about 20mph, were written off.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The World Athletics Ultimate Championship in Hungary starts on 11 September, with athletes competing for a top prize of \u00a3111,000.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The competition brings together Olympic, world and Diamond League champions, as well as the year&#8217;s leading performers in a three-day end-of-season event.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><script async defer src=\"https:\/\/platform.instagram.com\/en_US\/embeds.js\"><\/script><br \/>\n<br \/><br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/sport\/athletics\/articles\/c62m8yz8ge2o?at_medium=RSS&#038;at_campaign=rss\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Olympic long jump champion Tara Davis-Woodhall has decided to end her 2026 season after suffering &#8220;severe concussion&#8221; in a car crash.
