Athletic Club forward Inaki Williams has announced his retirement from international duty with Ghana.<\/b><\/p>\n
The 32-year-old scored two goals in 28 caps for the Black Stars after making his debut in September 2022.<\/a><\/p>\n He featured for the West Africans at the 2022 and 2026 Fifa World Cups and the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon).<\/p>\n Williams appeared twice at this year’s World Cup as Ghana were knocked out in the last 32 by Colombia.<\/p>\n “I feel the time has come to bring my journey with the Ghana national team to an end,” he said in a post on social media.<\/p>\n “I leave happy, proud and with the peace of mind of knowing that I gave everything every time I wore this shirt.”<\/p>\n Williams, who was born in Bilbao to Ghanaian parents, chose to represent the Black Stars after previously playing for Spain<\/a> at youth level and in a 2016 friendly at senior level.<\/p>\n His younger brother Nico, who also plays for Athletic Club in Bilbao, chose to represent Spain and has gone on to become a World Cup and European Championship winner with La Roja.<\/p>\n
