Boxer Conor Benn says he had suicidal thoughts after accusations of doping.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Benn, 26, twice tested positive for <\/span>women’s fertility drug clomifene<\/span><\/a> last year and faces a ban from boxing in the UK.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Englishman, who has constantly protested his innocence, said he suffered “night terrors and panic attacks” during the fallout.<\/span><\/p>\n

“It’s hurt me,” said Benn in an interview on <\/span>Piers Morgan: Uncensored<\/span>external-link<\/title><\/svg><\/span><\/a>. “I didn’t think I was going to make it through this period. I didn’t think I was going to make it through.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Asked to clarify if he was talking about taking his own life, Benn replied: “Yeah [I was feeling suicidal], yeah I’d say so – and it upsets me now because I don’t know how I got so bad. I got in a really bad way about it.<\/span><\/p>\n

“I was shamed for something I hadn’t even done. It’s hard because I felt like I was on death row for something I haven’t even done.<\/span><\/p>\n

“If I had done something wrong, I’m human. I’d raise my hands to it, ‘I made a mistake’, whatever it is, I raise my hands. Never this.<\/span><\/p>\n

“I felt seven years of hard work and sacrifice, and leaving my family and the image I maintain, was just ruined by somebody else’s incompetence. It’s been hard for the family.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Benn failed two voluntary drug tests and gave up <\/span>his licence in the weeks<\/span><\/a> after his planned fight last October with Chris Eubank Jr was cancelled.<\/span><\/p>\n

The British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC) and UK Anti-Doping have not yet concluded <\/span>the investigation<\/span><\/a> into the failed drug tests.<\/span><\/p>\n
