Sevilla have sacked Argentine coach Jorge Sampaoli with the side two points above the La Liga relegation zone.<\/span><\/p>\n The former Chile and Argentina coach, 63, joined Sevilla in October for a second stint in charge.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n The club has appointed former Eibar manager Jose Luis Mendilibar as Sampaoli’s replacement until the end of the season.<\/span><\/p>\n Sevilla have lost five of their past seven matches and are currently 14th in the table.<\/span><\/p>\n However, they have made it into the quarter-finals of the Europa League and will face Manchester United over two legs next month.<\/span><\/p>\n Sampaoli’s last game in charge was a 2-0 defeat by fellow strugglers Getafe which leaves them on on 28 points with 12 games left.<\/span><\/p>\n Mendilibar’s last managerial position was at Deportivo Alaves, where he was sacked after four months with the club at the bottom of La Liga.<\/span><\/p>\n The 62-year-old previously managed Eibar from 2015 to 2021, keeping the Basque side in the Spanish top flight for six straight seasons before they were relegated in 2021.<\/span><\/p>\n “The Basque coach has signed a contract until the end of the season, 30 June, and will take charge of his first training session this evening,” Sevilla said on Tuesday.<\/span><\/p>\n
