Four-time Olympic champion Mo Farah finished eighth at the Great Manchester Run, the penultimate race of his career.<\/span><\/p>\n The 40-year-old Briton completed the 10km course in 29 minutes 11 seconds – 44 seconds behind winner Eyob Faniel of Italy.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n Kenya’s Hellen Obiri defended the women’s title in 31 minutes 14 seconds.<\/span><\/p>\n Farah’s <\/span>final competitive race<\/span><\/a> will be the Great North Run in Newcastle on 10 September.<\/span><\/p>\n “I’m so proud of what I’ve achieved throughout my career,” he told BBC Sport.<\/span><\/p>\n “I was a bit nervous at the start, but this city has some great history and the support I got was amazing.”<\/span><\/p>\n Farah won 5,000m and 10,000m gold at the 2012 and 2016 Olympics.<\/span><\/p>\n He has also won six world and five European golds, and was knighted in 2017.<\/span><\/p>\n Faniel, who was born in Eritrea but moved to Italy as a child, beat Briton Marc Scott by four seconds, with Australia’s Stewart McSweyn a further four seconds back. Britain’s Jonny Mellor was 10th.<\/span><\/p>\n
