Unbeaten Belfast fighter Caoimhin Agyarko stepped in at short notice to secure a majority decision win over England’s Ryan Kelly in Sheffield.

Less than two weeks after taking the bout following Ishmael Davis’ withdrawal, Agyarko prevailed to improve his professional record to 17-0.

Despite being cut above his left eye in the fifth round, Agyarko battled his way to a hard-fought victory with the judges scoring the 10-round light-middleweight contest 95-95, 97-94 and 96-94 in the 28-year-old’s favour.

The fight took place on the undercard of Dalton Smith’s dominant super-lightweight win over Mathieu Germain.

Agyarko, who made his professional debut in 2018, fought just once in 2024, beating Bahadur Karami in Belfast.

But after returning to the ring with victory over Harley Collison in March, outlasting Kelly represents another step in the right direction in Agyarko’s bid to earn a world title shot.
