Five things to look out for at British Grand Prix
Round 12 of the 2025 Formula 1 season arrives at Silverstone for the British Grand Prix from 4-6 July.
Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton was quickest in the opening session on Friday, with Lando Norris topping the second hour for McLaren.
Briton Norris is 15 points behind championship leader Oscar Piastri at the top of the drivers’ championship following his win in Austria last week.
Sunday’s race starts at 15:00 BST.

What is Silverstone weather forecast?
‘Silverstone is bonkers’ – Russell ‘giving it everything’ to win
The forecast is now predicting dry conditions for Saturday’s qualifying and Sunday’s 52-lap race.
Instead of rain, the fight for pole position is set to be overcast, changing to sunny intervals by early evening with a high of 22C.
For the grand prix, the weather will be much the same, if slightly cooler and with a chance of rain both before and after the race.
F1 confirms 2026 pre-season testing dates

Cars under the new 2026 rules will be smaller, nimbler and more environmentally friendly
Formula 1 has announced three pre-season tests before the 2026 campaign begins in Australia from 6-8 March.
The first five-day test will be held behind closed doors at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in Spain between 26-30 January.
The Bahrain International Circuit in Bahrain then hosts the final two sessions, which are three days long, from 11-13 and 18-20 February.
Meanwhile, next season’s Azerbaijan Grand Prix will take place on Saturday, 26 September with qualifying on Friday to accommodate a national day.
