Davide Calabria levelled the scoring with his first goal of the season

AC Milan showed spirit by coming from two goals down to draw at Lecce but lost ground on Serie A leaders Napoli this weekend.

Theo Hernandez put through his own net after three minutes and then Federico Baschirotto doubled the hosts’ lead.

Portuguese forward Rafael Leao halved the deficit just before the hour and Davide Calabria levelled with 20 minutes remaining.

The Rossoneri have won only once since the World Cup.

Stefano Pioli’s side are now nine points adrift of Napoli, who thumped Juventus 5-1 on Friday to strengthen their push for a first league title in 33 years.

Their city rivals Inter stay fourth but sit just a point behind after they squeezed past Hellas Verona at the San Siro.

Lautaro Martinez scored the only goal inside three minutes with an excellent low finish for his ninth league of the season.

With half-time looming, Inter wanted a penalty when Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s shot appeared to strike Isak Hien’s elbow in the area.

It was checked, but the video assistant referee didn’t budge, much to Nerazzuri boss Simone Inzaghi’s annoyance.

Martinez thought he had doubled the lead with a delicate chip just past the hour, but his joy was cut short as he was penalised for a foul on Pawel Dawidowicz.

But Inter’s dominance and composure saw them over the line despite a late rally from Verona.
