Prop Max Lahiff has signed a new contract with Bristol Bears to stay at the club beyond this campaign.

Lahiff has played more than 120 games for Bristol and the extended deal will take him into an eighth season at the club.

The 36-year-old, who can play on both sides of the scrum, has played 10 games this season after missing the first part of the campaign with an ankle injury.

Director of rugby Pat Lam said Lahiff’s versatility is an “enormous asset”.

“His experience plays a vital role in the development of our younger front-row players,” Lam said.

“What I love most about Max is his growth mindset – both as a player and as a person. The depth of his understanding of the game, the way he approaches it and the evolution of his skillset are markedly different from when he first arrived eight years ago.”

Lahiff follows fellow prop Jake Woolmore and academy prospects Sam Worsley and Aidan Boshoff in both confirming new contracts with the Bears in recent days.
